The Block Set Characters: ░ ▒ ▓ █ ▀ ▄ ▌ ▐ ■ ▪ Border Character Sets The alternative term "Block ASCII" is derived from the fact that most "High ASCIIs" make use of the characters that look like blocks in 2D (from the side). The non-standard, MS DOS specific characters start afterwards with a "higher" number in the ASCII Table, hence "High-ASCII". The Characters 0-127 are used for the standard ASCII characters. The DOS ASCII Table contains 256 characters. The name "High" in "High ASCII" is derived from the location of the character codes in the ASCII Table.
